The path to financial empowerment starts with knowledge—and this February, HomeFree-USA’s Center for Financial Advancement®, in collaboration with Wells Fargo , is taking its mission to Stillman College, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and Bowie State University. These Igniting Excellence Regional Events are designed to empower students with financial tools and leadership development to prepare them for lifelong success.
At the heart of our work is a belief: every student deserves access to financial knowledge and leadership guidance to help build generational wealth and successful careers. The Center for Financial Advancement® embodies that belief through collaboration, expert-led sessions, and networking opportunities tailored to students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Why These Events Matter
With 16 HBCU partners, the Center for Financial Advancement® continues to bridge critical gaps in financial literacy and professional development, emphasizing homeownership as a key tool for wealth creation. Students face unique challenges as they transition from college into the workforce, often burdened by debt or a lack of understanding about long-term financial planning.
This is where the Center for Financial Advancement® and Wells Fargo step in. The Igniting Excellence Regional Eventsaddress these challenges head-on by:
- Enhancing financial literacy: Sessions guide students on budgeting, credit building, and homeownership fundamentals.
- Leadership development: Interactive discussions provide the skills needed to navigate career growth and personal finance.
- Networking with industry leaders: Students connect with experts and mentors who can guide their professional journeys.
What Students Can Expect
Our keynote speaker, Dar Mayweather, PhD, a renowned consultant and coach, will deliver the powerful keynote session: “All You Need Is One Thing: How to Stand Out to Industry Leaders.” Dr. Mayweather’s insights will help students position themselves as future leaders while mastering the financial strategies that fuel long-term success.
Each event is designed to leave students with actionable knowledge to:
- Leverage homeownership as an early step toward building wealth.
- Cultivate leadership traits that will stand out to employers.
- Build financial security through strategic decision-making.
