When you think small, you live small. However, if you’re ready to experience more success in all areas of your life, you can decide to embrace bigger dreams in a bolder way. If you’re ready to shatter your own limitations – financial and otherwise -- here are five steps you can take to create a bigger and brighter life.
Imagine. Success starts in the mind. The first step to thinking bigger is to imagine your ideal future. Imagine your ideal home, or how financially secure you would like to become or how far you want to advance in your career. Then watch how the wheel of fortune begins to turn in your favor.
Focus. Once you have imagined your ideal life, you have to keep it at the forefront of your mind. When you lose focus, you become distracted by other things and risk failing to take the steps needed to achieve your goals. Whether you keep a journal, create a vision board or keep reminders on post-it notes, find a way to focus on your desired goal so you can stay on track.
Affirm. Affirmations are positive statements that describe a desired outcome. Although you may not yet see how your business is going to expand or how you are going to advance beyond your present situation, implementing and consistently repeating positive affirmations will help you realize your dreams. When you repeat affirmations, they push the subconscious mind to take the necessary action required to make the statement a reality. Your positive affirmation could include statements such as “My life is getting better and better,” or “Wealth is pouring into my life.”
Expect. Having low expectations is a defense mechanism that many people use to protect themselves from becoming disappointed. Don’t fall into this trap. If you want a better life, you have to start expecting bigger things.
Prepare. If you are imagining big things, focusing on big things, affirming big things and expecting big things, it is only logical that you begin to make preparations for big things. Want a more prosperous life? Take classes on how to handle large amounts of money. Want that dream job? Start equipping yourself with the necessary qualifications in order to be considered. Aspire for that degree or take that professional development course. Whatever it takes -- do it.
Thinking bigger will propel you into the future you've always dreamed of. However, it is not enough to dream; you must remain focused, affirm your convictions, expect big things and make preparations for the success that is rightfully yours.
